HSBV’s Safety Net services seek to keep pets and people together by supporting healthy relationships. Our services include temporary pet housing, pet food and supply share, discounted pet behavior services, and grants to alleviate the cost of urgent or general wellness veterinary care.
For information about our Safety Net services, please fill out the appropriate questionnaire. Once a form is completed, a member of our team will review it and contact you regarding your request for support.
Please note: Our Safety Net services are limited to those located within Boulder and Broomfield counties.
Pet Food Share
Pet food and pet supplies are available at the shelter at no cost seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. We are not able to guarantee the availability of a particular brand, protein or specific diet. Delivery may be available on a limited basis upon request.
Temporary Pet Housing
HSBV provides temporary pet housing for hospitalized community members, victims of domestic violence, and those displaced from their homes due to natural disasters. We consider other situations on a case-by-case basis, depending on current resources and space availability.
Urgent Veterinary Care
Our veterinary hospital may be able to support your needs and keep your pet healthy or get your pet on the road to recovery. If you are experiencing financial hardship, job or home loss, or need support for your pet’s general wellness care our discounted veterinary SHARE program may be able to help. HSBV offers payment options and extends safety net service grants, thanks to our generous donors.

Behavior Consultations
If you are considering surrendering your pet due to behavior concerns, our professional behavior and training experts may be able to help. Our positive-reinforcement, force-free training philosophy can also help you in building a happy and healthy relationship with your pet. If you need help with your pet’s behavior or are looking for support enriching your relationship with your pet, our Training and Behavior Center team offers discounts on consultations and group classes.
